Monthly report August 2022

Although August is a vacation month, most of the athletes on the VRT team still trained quite a bit. Some were not able to train on vacation, or hardly at all, because the conditions were not suitable. Others were able to finish their normal program while on vacation. So this month also saw strong performances by our athletes.

Last month, the following races were run:

On Aug. 5, Max Hutjens ran a 1500m in Utrecht. He improved his PR to 4:27.66.
Friday, Aug. 19, Max Hutjens and Sjuulke Heinrichs ran a final test before the C-Juniors National Championships next week. In the process, Sjuulke ran to a fine 5:36.04 in the 1500m. Max ran a strong race with 2:11.29 in the 800m.

Saturday, Aug. 20, Rens Simons wanted to test himself on the 10km in Siebengewald after a vacation break. He took1st place in 34.42 in the seniors and2nd place Overall.

Koen Kusters ran a 10km in Soest on Wednesday, Aug. 24. Without overexerting himself, he achieved a fat1st place in 33.31, with all but a few seconds of a PR.

Jarno Albers, Jesse Holten and Noah Holten ran a 1500m in Utrecht on Friday, Aug. 26. Noah ran this distance in 4:03.37. Jesse achieved a narrow PR in 4:06.57. Jarno ran to a good 4:11.11 and also improved his PR.

Saturday, Aug. 27, Max Hutjens had the opportunity to compete in the 1500m at the NK. In an excellent race he ran to a great5th place in this strong field. He again improved his PR with 4:25.27. Sunday, Aug. 28, Sjuulke had to compete for her 1500m. In a well-constructed race in which she caught up with about 5 more athletes on the last lap, she finished5th in her series and 18th overall with 5:26.74.
