Venloop Running Team Update: monthly report September 2022

How can we help you?

September is usually the conclusion of the track season. The final strains of a great season are done, with another (fat) PR here and there. In addition, the first road races are already announcing themselves for VRT’ers. Of great importance is to then go back a few weeks in the number of workouts and/or size to start the winter season completely fresh again.

Last month, the following races were run:

On Sept. 4, Ravi Classen ran the D games. This is the unofficial NK for D athletes. Ravi ran the 1000m there and despite having just returned from vacation he ran a fine time of 3:16.74 which placed him 22nd.

Max Hutjens ran the 2km in Varsseveld on Sept . 10. He won that one by a large margin in 6.11. This clearly shows the tremendous progress he made last season.

Sunday, September 11, Noah, Rens, Jesse and Jarno ran in Sonsbeck. Rens as hare in the 800m. Noah and Jesse the 800m (resp.1st in 1.57.20 and2nd in 1.59.10) and Jarno the 1500m (by far the fastest in 4.13.31)

On Friday evening, Sept. 16, about 10 athletes completed the summer season in Wageningen. Some more (strong) PRs and a CR were run there. Noah (1.58.71), Jip (2.00.06), Martijn (2.07.49), Cas (2.18.30) (PR), Suze (2.41.13) and Xenia (2.53.23) ran the 800m. Jesse (4:08.63) and Rens (4:15.47) ran the 1500m. Jarno (15.24.22) (PR) and Niels (15.03.65) (PR and CR) ran the 5000m

On Sunday, Sept. 18, a sizable group of athletes participated in the Kwaaker Run. That the VRT is a strong team is evidenced by the 4x Clean Sweep on the podium and several more places of 4,5,6, etc.

On Sept. 25, Jip and Sjuulke ran their 5km on the road in Belfeld. Sjuulke took1st place Over-all-in 21.45 and Jip took2nd place Over-all-in 17.10 (PR). The same day our new team member Awet Habteab ran the 10km in Tilburg. In 33.39 he crossed the line in1st place, improving his PR by almost 5 minutes.

Sprinting to the next one!
