Dutch Half Marathon Championship Sunday 30 March 2025 through the streets of Venlo.
Venlo, 6 September 2024 – The Arrow Venloop will form the backdrop for the Dutch Half Marathon Championship in March 2025.
During the 18th edition of the Arrow Venloop on Sunday 30 March 2025, the fastest runners in the Netherlands will compete for the coveted national title.
The first edition of the Arrow Venloop was organised in 2006. It is celebrated for its fast course times and unique atmosphere. Numbering more than 30,000 participants in the weekend of 29 and 30 March 2025, it ranks among the larger events organised in the Netherlands.
“We are delighted that the Royal Dutch Athletics Federation has once again appointed Stichting Venloop to organise the Dutch half marathon championship during the Arrow Venloop on 30 March 2025. Stichting Venloop has already had the honour of organising the Dutch championships for both the half marathon distance and the 10 kilometres on several occasions. We were very proud and thoroughly enjoyed organising these previous championship events and are therefore very grateful that the Athletics Federation has decided to entrust us with the Dutch half marathon championship again next year,” is how Wim Lensen, director of Stichting Venloop, enthusiastically responded to the news.
“Participating in the event is one big party every year. That party will now be extra special, as hosting the Dutch half marathon championship brings a gilt-edge to our event. Dutch elite athletes will battle it out for this coveted national title. We are not only uniting the best runners in the country, but also creating a wonderful opportunity for Venlo to showcase its warm hospitality and genuine sporting spirit!”
The course
The route will guide participants through the festive streets of the Venlo and its stunning surroundings and they will cross the finish line in the historic city centre. This competitive course has not changed compared with previous years and is known for its fast finishing times. For example, in 2023 the course noted the fastest half marathon time in the Netherlands.
The record for men on the course in Venlo stands at 59 minutes and 20 seconds and was set by Kenyan Hillary Chepkwony during the 2023 edition.

Registration for the Dutch Half Marathon Championship is now open on the website www.venloop.nl.
The Dutch Championship is part of the Van der Valk Hotel Venlo half marathon during the Arrow Venloop on Sunday 30 March. Many local and international elite runners will compete against each other over this distance with 10,000 recreational enthusiasts.
Broad audience and activities
Runners can also cover many other distances in addition to the Van der Valk Hotel Venlo Half Marathon: there will also be a 5-kilometre, 10-kilometre and various youth runs on the Sunday, and a super programme for walkers on Saturday 29 March. View the complete Arrow Venloop 2025 programme here.
